The 5 best real estate agents in Pasadena

Five brokers chosen on license record, experience, presence in the city, and what their clients say — no sponsorships, no referral fees, no ranking.

Pasadena, CA

Pasadena's best-known agents mostly work the whole San Gabriel Valley, so a list of the best agents in Pasadena has to ask a harder question than who sells the most: who actually works here. We started with 30 agents with Pasadena offices, checked each against the state license record, their public reviews, and where their named sales sit, and kept the five who passed every test. Each is listed under the kind of work they are best at.

If you are buying, it helps to know what you are walking into before you call anyone. The figures below come from every home purchase mortgage made in the city, and the full numbers are in our report on what it actually costs to buy a home in Pasadena.

How we chose these five

We started with 30 Pasadena agents, found through Google Maps, the Pasadena office rosters of the major brokerages, and existing "best agent" lists, which we used only as leads to check. Every agent on this page passed all five of these tests. Anyone who failed one was removed.

The five tests, and how the labels were assignedShow
  1. 01

An active California license with a clean record. We checked each agent on the California Department of Real Estate's public license lookup on October 13, 2026. Each one is currently licensed and the state record shows no disciplinary action. All five hold broker licenses.

  2. 02

At least five years licensed. We used the original issue date on the state record. The five here have been licensed for between 12 and 25 years.

  3. 03

Works in Pasadena itself. Each has an office inside the city, and at least a third of the sales named on their own website or brokerage page are in Pasadena proper. Altadena, South Pasadena and San Marino did not count, which removed several well-reviewed agents whose business is mainly there.

  4. 04

Strong reviews on at least two sites. We looked at each agent's own profiles on Google, Zillow, Yelp and Realtor.com, by hand, on October 13, 2026. To qualify, an agent needed at least 20 reviews in total and an average of 4.8 or better on every site counted; one agent's Yelp profile fell below that and was not counted, and she qualified on her other three. Where an agent leads a team and the profile is in their name, we counted reviews on that profile, because that is who you are hiring. Among agents who passed every test, total review count decided who made the list. Review numbers change; the figures we used are a snapshot from that date.

  5. 05

No more than three from one brokerage. Two of the five are with Compass, on different teams. The limit keeps the list from becoming one brokerage's roster.

The "Best for" labels come from the evidence, not the other way round. Each label is backed by at least two of: what the agent says they specialize in, the pattern in their listings and sales, and what their clients say in reviews. We chose the agents first and read the labels off their records afterwards. Having their own website was used only as a tiebreaker. The five are not ranked against each other; each is listed under what they are best for.

Nobody paid to be here. No agent paid, applied, or was asked for anything to be included. We finished choosing before contacting anyone. We may invite the agents listed to add a quote or photo; that is optional and does not affect their place on the list. Any agent who asks to be removed will be removed.

Before you call an agent

Agents in Pasadena will ask one question early: are you pre-approved? The typical buyer here brought over $300,000 to closing in 2025, and in a city where good houses draw several offers in the first week, sellers expect proof that a buyer can close before they take an offer seriously. Getting pre-approved before you call is the single thing that makes the rest of the process faster. And decide what you are buying: the market here splits by housing type more than most, and the agent who is right for a Craftsman in Bungalow Heaven is not always the one for a condo near Old Pasadena.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What does a home in Pasadena cost?

In 2025, the typical home bought with a mortgage here cost $1,205,000, and half of buyers paid between $815,000 and $1.7 million. The typical buyer brought about $320,900 to closing. Our Pasadena cost-to-buy report has the full breakdown by loan type and down payment.

Do I need an agent who knows historic homes?

If you are buying one, it helps. Pasadena has designated landmark districts and many individually designated historic properties, and a home in one can carry limits on exterior changes and, in some cases, a Mills Act tax contract. Ask any agent you interview whether they have closed a sale in a landmark district before.

What does a real estate agent cost a buyer?

Since 2024, buyer's agent compensation is negotiated directly with the agent and written into a buyer representation agreement before you tour homes. Some sellers still offer to cover part or all of it; ask your agent how they handle it.

How do I check an agent's license?

Every agent on this page has their DRE license number listed. You can look up any California agent at the Department of Real Estate's public license search to confirm the license is active and see any disciplinary history.

Are these agents paying to be on this list?

No. No agent paid, applied, or was asked for anything, and LoanWise has no referral relationship with any of them. The full selection criteria are above.

About this list

Selection criteria version 1.1.0. License records and reviews were checked by hand on the dates stated above; we re-check at least yearly. Agents are described using the license type on their state record.
