Introduction
LoanWise (“LoanWise,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a brand operated by Loanwise Group LLC. LoanWise operates a loan comparison, resource, and lender-matching platform that helps users explore loan options and connect with third-party lenders. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, and safeguarded when you access or use the LoanWise website and related services. This Policy applies to personal information collected online through LoanWise.
Our services are intended for United States residents who are 18 years of age or older. LoanWise does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18.
By accessing or using LoanWise, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you choose to provide directly to us (for example, when you fill out a loan quote form or contact us), as well as certain information collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use our site. For the purposes of this policy, “personal information” means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked to an individual. Below we outline the types of information we collect and how we collect it:
Information You Provide: When you submit a loan inquiry or otherwise interact with our site, we may ask for personal details such as your name, email address, estimated annual income, approximate credit score range, and information about your property and desired loan (e.g. property value, loan amount, loan purpose). This information is typically collected via online forms that you fill out. For example, personal data includes identifiers like your full name, email address, and phone number, as well as financial or property details you choose to provide about your loan needs. Providing this information is optional, but if you choose not to provide certain details, we may not be able to assist with your loan comparison or inquiry.
Information Collected Automatically: Like many websites, we use cookies and tracking tools to automatically collect certain technical and usage data when you visit LoanWise. This may include your device's IP address, browser type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, and the dates/times of your visits. We may also collect data on how you interact with our site (such as clicking and scrolling behavior) and other usage statistics. We use cookies (small text files stored on your device) and similar technologies (such as web beacons or pixels) to collect information about your usage of our site in order to personalize your experience, remember your preferences, and analyze and improve our services. For example, we may use Google Analytics or similar services to understand which pages users visit and how they navigate our platform, which helps us enhance site performance and content. (See Cookies and Tracking Technologies below for more details on our use of cookies and your choices).
Information from Third Parties: We generally collect personal information directly from you. LoanWise does not obtain personal data about you from third-party sources (other than the analytics data noted above or advertising partners as described in the Cookies section). If in the future we receive information about you from third parties (for instance, if a lender partner informs us of a loan you obtained through our referral), we will treat any such information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Sensitive Information Not Collected: We do not collect certain highly sensitive personal information. For example, LoanWise will never ask you for a Social Security number, driver's license number, bank account or credit card number as part of our loan inquiry process. Our service is designed to match you with lenders based on the basic information listed above, and does not require your government ID or financial account details. Please do not submit such sensitive information to us.
How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information collected from you for the following business purposes, in accordance with applicable laws:
Providing and Improving Services: We use your information to provide our comparison and matching services to you. This includes using your submitted data (loan preferences, income, etc.) to generate loan offers or matches and to connect you with appropriate third-party lenders or mortgage companies. We also use personal and usage data to maintain and improve the functionality of our platform, to personalize your user experience, and to develop new features or services.
Communicating with You: We may use your contact information (such as your email address) to send you updates or information in response to your loan inquiries. For instance, after you submit a quote request, we might email you to confirm receipt, provide you with matched offers, or ask for additional details. We may also send you informational newsletters or promotional materials about loan products or related services, but only if you have opted to receive such communications. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time (see Your Rights and Choices below).
Lead Generation and Referrals: A core purpose of LoanWise is to match you with loan providers. When you request loan quotes, we use your information to identify lenders that might offer you suitable loan options, and then facilitate sharing of your details with those lenders (see How We Share Your Information below). In doing so, we essentially use your data to generate a “lead” for third-party lenders so they can provide you with rate quotes or contact you with offers.
Analytics and Personalization: We use data (including automatically collected data and cookies) to perform analytics on how our site is used and to improve our marketing efforts. This helps us understand our user base and tailor our content. For example, we may use your site interactions to display more relevant content or recommendations on LoanWise, or to gauge the effectiveness of our advertisements.
Legal Compliance and Prevention of Fraud: We may use your information as necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and to respond to valid legal processes or law enforcement requests. Additionally, we use personal data to protect the rights, property, or safety of LoanWise, our users, and others. For example, information may be used to investigate or prevent fraudulent activities, spam, unauthorized access, or other misuse of our website.
We will not use your personal information for any purposes incompatible with those listed above without obtaining your consent. If we ever need to process your information for a new purpose, we will provide you with notice and, if required, seek your permission.
Communications and Consent
When you submit a loan inquiry or quote request through LoanWise, you provide your prior express written consent to receive communications from LoanWise and its network of lending partners. These communications may include phone calls, text messages (SMS), and emails related to your inquiry and loan options. Calls and texts may be made using an autodialer, prerecorded or artificial voice messages, even if your phone number is listed on any do-not-call list. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
Text Messages (SMS): If you consent to receive text messages, message frequency may vary depending on your inquiry and interactions. Message and data rates may apply depending on your wireless carrier and plan. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP or contact us at the email address listed in the Contact Information section below. Your mobile opt-in consent and phone number will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes unrelated to the services you requested.
Revoking Consent: You may revoke your consent to receive communications from LoanWise at any time and by any reasonable method, including replying STOP to a text message, sending us an email, calling us, or submitting a written request by mail. We will process your revocation within 10 business days. Please note that if your information has already been shared with lending partners pursuant to your inquiry, you will need to contact those partners directly to opt out of their communications.
Consent Records: When you provide consent through our Site, we retain a record of that consent, including the date, time, consent language presented, and the information you submitted. These records are maintained to document your consent and to comply with applicable legal requirements, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell mailing lists or trade your information for money; however, we do share your personal information with third parties in certain circumstances in order to operate our service and fulfill your requests. Below we explain when and with whom we share data. We disclose personal information to third parties only for the business and commercial purposes described here and we do not share your data with unrelated third parties for their own direct marketing (outside of the context described).
Lending Partners: When you use LoanWise to request loan quotes or to be matched with lenders, we will share the relevant personal information you provided (such as your name, contact details, and loan inquiry details) with one or more third-party lenders, mortgage brokers, or financial institutions in our network. These “lending partners” use your information to evaluate your request and, if possible, provide you with loan offers or reach out to you to discuss your options. Your information may be shared with multiple lending partners simultaneously so that they can evaluate your request and compete to offer you the best terms. Please note: Once we transfer your information to a particular lender or broker, that third party will process your data according to their own privacy policies and practices. LoanWise is not responsible for how lending partners use your information after it has been shared.
Service Providers: We share personal information with trusted third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf. This includes companies that host our website, maintain our IT systems, process data analytics, or assist in sending out communications. These service providers are contractually required to use personal information only to provide services to us and not for their own unrelated purposes.
Advertising and Marketing Partners: We may also share certain information with third-party marketing partners to help promote our services or display advertisements. This can include sharing hashed or anonymized customer lists with platforms (like a social media site or advertising network) to serve targeted LoanWise ads to people who have visited our site. We do not share sensitive personal details with advertisers, and we do not allow third-party ad networks to collect your contact information from our site.
Affiliates and Business Transfers: LoanWise is currently a single platform and does not have corporate affiliates. If in the future we become part of a corporate family of related businesses, we may share your information within that corporate group as necessary. Additionally, if LoanWise is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or other transaction, personal information may be transferred to a successor or affiliate as part of that transaction.
Legal Requirements and Protection: We may disclose your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law or a legal process. We may also disclose personal information if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected illegal activities, fraud, or situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person or violations of our Terms of Use.
With Your Consent or At Your Direction: In circumstances other than those listed above, we will ask for your consent before sharing your personal information with third parties.
No Sale of Personal Information (Notice for California Residents): LoanWise does not sell your personal information to third parties for money. However, we do share personal information with third parties in ways that might be deemed a “sale” or “sharing” under certain privacy laws. If you are a California resident, you have the right to opt out of this sale/sharing of your personal information (see Your Rights and Choices below for how to exercise this right).
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies: LoanWise and our third-party service providers use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect information automatically when you use our site. Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to remember information about you. We use cookies to recognize you when you return to our site, to understand and save your preferences, and to track your activities on LoanWise.
Types of Cookies and Tracking Technologies: The cookies on LoanWise may be set by us (first-party cookies) or by third-party partners (third-party cookies). They generally fall into the following categories:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies: These are essential for the website to function correctly (for instance, to submit a loan inquiry form). Without these, certain services you request may not be possible.
- Analytics/Performance Cookies: We use these to collect information about how visitors use our site – which pages are visited, how long users stay, and any errors encountered. This helps us measure and improve site performance.
- Functionality Cookies: These cookies remember choices you make (such as your preferred loan type or the state you're in) to provide a more personalized experience.
- Advertising/Targeting Cookies: LoanWise may allow third-party advertising or marketing cookies to be placed on your device. These cookies track your browsing habits on our site (and possibly across other sites) to show you relevant ads. Any advertising cookies used will not collect directly identifiable information (like your name or email) but rather identify your browser and device.
Your Choices for Cookies: On your first visit to LoanWise (and periodically thereafter), you may see a cookie notice or banner allowing you to accept or reject certain cookies. Even if you initially accept cookies, you can later adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being placed. Please note that if you disable cookies in your browser, some features of our site may not function properly.
Third-Party Tracking: We may partner with third-party analytics and advertising companies that use their own cookies or similar technologies to collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites. We do not have control over third-party cookies; their use is governed by the privacy policies of the third parties. However, you can often opt out of third-party ad tracking by using tools provided by industry groups, such as the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page or the Network Advertising Initiative's opt-out tool.
“Do Not Track” Signals: Some web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) or global privacy control setting. At this time, LoanWise does not respond to individual browser DNT signals. If your browser or device broadcasts an opt-out preference signal (such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC)) that is recognized under certain state laws, we will treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale/sharing of your personal information for that browser/device, as required by law.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
LoanWise uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools to provide certain features of our platform. For example, when you upload mortgage documents to our comparison tool, AI is used to extract and analyze data from those documents, generate side-by-side comparisons, and produce a summary of findings. AI may also be used to generate estimated rate ranges and other informational content on our Site.
AI-generated content, comparisons, rate estimates, and recommendations are provided solely for general informational and educational purposes and may contain errors or inaccuracies. AI output is not a substitute for professional financial advice. You should independently verify any information generated by our AI tools and consult with a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
LoanWise does not use AI as automated decision-making technology to determine your eligibility for any financial product or service. Our AI tools do not approve, deny, or otherwise make binding decisions regarding your access to loans or other financial products.
Your Rights and Choices
You have certain rights and choices regarding your personal information. These rights may vary depending on your jurisdiction (for example, California residents have specific legal rights under the CCPA). LoanWise is committed to honoring the rights of users as required by applicable laws.
General Choices:
- Opt-Out of Marketing Communications: You can opt out of marketing communications at any time. For emails, click the “unsubscribe” link in any promotional email we send. For text messages, reply STOP to any message. You may also revoke consent to all communications by emailing us, calling us, or submitting a written request by mail — or by any other reasonable method. We will process opt-out and consent revocation requests within 10 business days. Please note that opting out of marketing communications will not affect transactional messages related to an active inquiry or legal notices.
- Updating Your Information: Because we do not maintain user accounts, if you need to correct or update personal information you submitted to us, you can do so by contacting us directly.
- Cookies Preferences: As described in the Cookies section, you have choices to manage cookies through your browser settings and other tools. You can also opt out of interest-based online ads by using industry opt-out websites.
Privacy Rights for California Residents: If you are a resident of California, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) regarding your personal information. Other U.S. states may grant similar rights to their residents, and we will extend the same core rights to those individuals as required. The key CCPA rights for California consumers include:
Right to Know: You have the right to request that we disclose the personal information we have collected about you and how we have used and shared that information. Upon verifiable request, we will provide this information for the 12-month period preceding your request.
Right to Delete: You have the right to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm a verified deletion request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies.
Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information to third parties. To exercise this right, you can use the contact methods below or use the “[Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information]” link on our website (if available).
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. This means we will not deny you our services, charge you a different price, or provide a lesser quality of service just because you exercised your rights under the CCPA.
Exercising Your Rights: If you are a California resident (or a resident of another state with similar privacy rights) and wish to exercise any of the rights described above, you or your authorized agent can submit a request to us by contacting us as described in Contact Information below.
Response Timing: We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 days and respond within 45 days as required by law (or notify you if we need an extension of up to another 45 days).
Other State Privacy Rights: If you are a resident of certain other states (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or others with privacy laws effective in 2025-2026), you may have similar rights to access, delete, or correct your data and to opt out of certain data practices. LoanWise will extend such rights to consumers in those states as applicable.
All users (regardless of location) can contact us at any time with questions about their data or this Privacy Policy. Transparency and user control are important to us.
Data Retention
LoanWise retains personal information for only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. This means we keep your information for the duration of your relationship with us and for a period afterward where there is an ongoing business need or legal obligation to do so.
When determining retention periods, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process it and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and applicable legal requirements. Once we have no ongoing legitimate need to use your information, we will either delete it or anonymize it in a secure manner.
If you request deletion of your data, we will also delete the information from our active systems (subject to the exceptions and timeframes described in Your Rights above). We continuously review our data retention practices to ensure we are not retaining personal information indefinitely without justification.
Data Security
We take the security of your personal information very seriously. LoanWise implements a variety of administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include, for example:
- Encryption of data in transit (e.g., SSL/TLS technology to encrypt information exchanged between your browser and our site).
- Network and application security controls, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, to guard against external attacks.
- Access controls and policies: We limit access to personal data to employees and service providers who need the information to perform their duties. Those who have access are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Regular monitoring and testing: We periodically review our security procedures and infrastructure for vulnerabilities. We also maintain incident response plans to handle any potential data security incidents swiftly and effectively.
- Organizational measures: Our staff are trained on data privacy and security practices. We have internal policies in place to prevent unauthorized access or sharing of user data.
While we employ robust safeguards, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
Children's Privacy
Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. LoanWise does not knowingly collect personal information from children or minors. We do not target or market our loan comparison services to anyone under 18, as financial products presented on our platform are only available to adults. If you are under 18, please do not use LoanWise or submit any information about yourself to us.
Parents or legal guardians: if you believe that your child under 18 may have provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately (see Contact Information below). We will take steps to remove the information and terminate any account that was created by a minor.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or relevant laws. If we make any material changes in how we collect, use, or share your personal information, or any other significant updates, we will provide notice to users as required. The “Effective Date” at the top of this Policy indicates when the Policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
If you continue to use LoanWise after a Privacy Policy update becomes effective, that will constitute your acceptance of the changes to the extent permitted by law.
